| Ezekiel 35:6 Therefore, as I live," says the Lord God, "I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; since you have not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue you." I recently spent a few days in Kansas City, and one of those days was at the Call, a gathering of thousands of people to fast and pray for our nation, and our government. It was awesome for all that it was in worship and intercession, but it was very sobering and i can't imagine one person leaving without the cry of "Lord, have mercy" still on their hearts. There were several prayer points the leaders intended to cover during the 12 hours, but God even hijacked that and a large portion of the time was spent interceding for God to end abortion and have mercy on our nation. For the first time in all the Calls he has led, Lou Engle stopped the music and everything, said he felt like God impressed upon him to set His case before us concerning abortion. he proceeded to bring scripture after scripture regarding blood and the shedding of blood (i will gladly give them to you if you are interested), and the reminder that there must be a reckoning, for without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. (Hebrews 9:22) I share this b/c I had NO IDEA the depth of my own apathy and ignorance--and sin--on this issue, and i suspect i am not the only one. I share this so that you will engage the heart of God about it for yourself. I encourage you to read this to the end; someone else put it all together better than I could, so i copied much of what they wrote below. (If you want to see the full letter go to: dalifsey blogspot) -------------- In context to the abomination of the enslavement and murder of untold multitudes of Africans, Abraham Lincoln said that if "if every drop of blood shed by the whip" was proportionally and equally shed by the sword (in civil war), it must "be said that God's judgments are righteous and true altogether."
...The atrocity of slavery was not a political issue. Why? It's because blood was shed that invariably made it a paramount issue of righteousness, morality and justice. When blood flows, "politics" are insufficient. The atrocity of our generation is abortion.
If government officials rounded up 50 million people, set them on the steps of the Supreme Court in Washington D.C . and continued to gun them down there would be no question as to whether or not it was a "political" issue or a moral issue. The blood would come to the waists and chests of the gunmen. Remember, 50 million babies have undergone a Holocaust in American incinerators in a period of 35 years. And blood requires blood in the mind, heart and leadership of God.
"Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man. (Gen. 9:6)
As sure as the law of gravity affects our day to day life now, so is the law of bloodshed affecting us now. Shed blood in the eyes of God demands reciprocal bloodshed. It demands Divine reckoning.
Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning……. and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of man. (Gen. 9:5)
The Civil War was the day for reckoning for our nation for the bloodshed of slavery. A war thought to last a month lasted 4 years...600,000 American's died on the fields of battle because we allowed, encouraged and fought for the legislation of injustice. Let me be very clear: There have been around 50 million people murdered on our soil since 1973. Every drop of blood that has fallen and every body that has been thrown into the incinerators around the 50 states of America arise as smoke provoking the jealousy of God.
I'm emailing this to you to make a sober and serious appeal: First of all, refuse to stand with or for anyone who stands for or even passively endorses bloodshed. And secondly, understand that none of us are voting or praying this year as Democrats or Republicans – we are voting and praying as those who stand guilty with blood on our hands desperately in need of mercy of a Good Father.
Martin Luther King said "I can't take the hatred out of a white man's heart, and I can't remove the rage from him……..but I can make it illegal to for him to beat me." In other words, we are in need of righteous legislation in America that would make bloodshed illegal. Though we may not at this point be capable of acknowledging that abortion is murder so as to turn from it, there is hope that it could be made illegal.
...We stand at a historic juncture in our nation's history. And we stand unaware of the overwhelming controversy in God's heart with our blood stained nation. The blood of the Native American Indians, the blood of the slaves from Africa and the blood of 50 million babies is entirely accounted for before the True Supreme Court and the Throne of Justice.
In the face of historic military crisis in the land the prophet Joel declared the only remedy that could minimize or avert the violence of the deserved judgment.
"Even now" declares the Lord, "turn to Me with all you heart…rend your heart and not your garments…for I am gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in love, and I relent from sending calamity."
The young men of who were raised prior to the Civil War were those that lay slain because of the choices their fathers and brothers made before them. The decisions of our hearts have real consequences. -------------------- In the book of Hebrews it says, "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins." In the old days, before Jesus, priests of God made daily sacrifices of bulls and rams, etc, to atone for their sins and the sins of the nation of Israel. God said, "for the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." (leviticus 17:11) This reality--and God's desire to reconcile all people to Himself--led to Jesus's death on the cross. Divine justice over the issue of sin and bloodshed (without bloodshed there is no remission of sins) was fulfilled completely (once and for all!) through the death of the perfect, sinless Son of God as a sacrifice for us. His shed blood became the atonement for our souls--and through Him--through FAITH in Him, we are saved and set free. However, just as there are those that reject Jesus, that refuse to believe and turn from sin, and are never reconciled to God, abortion sits before us unconfessed, and unatoned for, and thus awaiting the justice of God. There MUST BE a reckoning, because God is good and just. But He DESIRES mercy (Hosea 6:6), and this is why I am writing. We spent several hours crying out for mercy, pleading the blood of Jesus over our nation, our government, ourselves and the Church, over abortion clinics and abortion doctors, over women who have had abortions--because for every child that has been aborted, there is a woman who carries that loss, that wound within her. It is not forgotten. I write because we are praying for the turning of a nation, not just from abortion, but TO God. Pray. Vote for Life. If you want more info, go to www.bound4Life.com. But more than anything else, engage with God over this issue. with love, and in the love of God, <>< kelli
